In 1996, when Eugene Ellmen wrote The Canadian Ethical Money Guide there were some $40 million in sustainable and responsible investment in Canada. Today there are over $2 trillion (podcast link below).
Eugene is indisputably one of the greats of the modern sustainable and responsible investment movement, not only in Canada, but globally.
He has been driving force for good his whole life, working as a journalist, financial cooperative executive, director of Responsible Investment Association of Canada (ex. Social Investment Organization), director of Oikocredit Canada, and had as stint in the Bob Rae government of the province of Ontario.
Most recently, Eugene co-authored The Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development 2019 Report on Impact Investing in Emerging and Frontier Markets.
